QA Test Analyst

The Role:

The Software Test & Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of system and user acceptance testing. Focus for this position is to provide testing resources within an iterative rapid application development team, using Agile Scrum. Critical success factors include excellent communication skills and the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.  Specific roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain the test plan & strategy;
  • Build, manage and/or execute the overall test process;
  • Prepare, specify, and execute test case scenarios;
  • Control and manage daily test activities;
  • Interactively participate in daily scrum planning;
  • Provide internal quality assurance;
  • Review design specifications;
  • Identify and report project risks;
  • Report on progress of the test process;
  • Manage change during the test process, experience working with highly iterative projects;
  • Evaluate overall test process, assessing, reporting and managing risk factors;
  • Administration of test control and statistics collection (i.e. problem reporting, defect tracking).

The Skills and Qualifications We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum two years experience in software QA or software development testing;
    • Proven track record of developing test plans, test strategies and test scripts;
    • Experience with QA procedures development and maintenance;
    • Experience with setup and administration of Bug Tracking systems;
    • Experience of both manual and automated tests and tools;
    • Good understanding of unit and integration testing tools;
  • Strong background working with Agile methodology utilizing Scrum, RAD or other iterative test processes;
  • Automated testing experience with products such as Selenium, WinRunner, Silk Test etc.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems: Windows, Unix, Linux etc;
  • Understand web software (client/server, XML, Java, application servers, web servers etc.);
  • Experience testing web services, web-based applications and client/server software;
  • Strong SDLC background with emphasis on software testing;
  • Track record of delivering product to tight and intense deadlines.
  • Efficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio);
  • Post Secondary education, preferably a degree/diploma in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Excellent English communications skills – both written and spoken
  • Strong attention to detail but able to see big-picture too
