Consultants & Senior Consultants - JAVA/J2EE

In 1998 VisionMAX started as a custom software development shop and over the years has amassed a sizeable inventory of solutions primarily for Media, Tele-communications, Government and Retail sectors. Our goal was and is to provide top-notch, innovative solutions at a lower cost than the big consulting shops or specialty boutiques. We have the advantage of big shop experience, applied on a smaller scale. We are a Canadian company, with head offices in Mississauga, Ontario and sales representation in the USA.  And now 11 years later, over 100 employees strong with continued growth plans, VisionMAX continues to deliver top-notch IT business solutions from start to finish, on time and on budget - every time.

The Role:

We are currently recruiting for Intermediate to Senior Developers, Team Leaders and Architects all within the JAVA/J2EE realm.  In any of these capacities, you will be doing up-front analysis, design, programming, leading a team or responsible for overall systems architecture.  The variety of our projects and our overall “can do” culture affords all our Consultants this broad scope of work. 

The Skills and Qualifications We’re Looking For:

  • A post-secondary school Degree or Diploma in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline is required
  • Excellent J2EE Development skills (3+ years experience)
    • Java Servlets, JSP, EJB, Design Patterns, Struts, MVC, etc.
  • Web-services experience (XML, HTTP, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI)
  • Mix of Unix/Linux and/or Windows environments experience is an asset
  • Websphere, Tomcat/Apache, and/or BEA Java application server experience
  • Experience with various RDBMS – Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server and/or MySQL is required
  • Familiar with Messaging technologies (ex. MQ-Series)
  • Strong programming experience with C/C++, C# and .NET is a strong asset
  • Rational UML and Object Modeling a definite asset
  • A demonstrated capacity and interest in learning new skills and methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills – work outside the boundaries to find optimal solutions for our customers

  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong initiative, can-do attitude and strong team-player
  • Detail oriented

For Team Leader or Architect positions

  • Ability to train and mentor others in development methodologies and best-practices
  • Provide guidance and support to team members
  • Proven, demonstrable leadership skills with teams of 5 or more
  • Review and/or create solution design and architecture
  • Strong customer skills and ethics
  • Proven documentation, status reporting and QA/Testing skills
