Technical Support Analyst

The Role:

The Technical Support Analyst provides production and technology support services to external customers and internal users.  The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure all mission-critical systems, email, websites, database and associated applications are running at peek efficiency.  As technology issues arise, the Technical Support Analyst will provide second and possibly third-level support to troubleshoot and remedy the issue in a timely and professional manner and minimize any business interruptions.  Lastly, the Technical Support Analyst will play a key role on infrastructure projects – technology upgrades, implementation and training (BES, VOiP), external product evaluation and deployment.  On a day-to-day basis, the roles and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide network and operations support including maintenance of WAN, LAN SAN, switches, servers (UNIX and Windows), back-up, wireless and telephone systems (traditional PBX and VOiP);
  • Provide end-user support for PCs and laptops, peripherals, telecom devices, business software and email systems;  
  • Provide Active Directory, Exchange, and Collaboration support;
  • Apply change management procedures in the application of vendor patches/upgrades and customer enhancement requests;
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and their application for future use;
  • Work with vendors to procure hardware/software and/or apply for warranty support;
  • Provide professional technical consulting services to our customers in support of their business.

The Skills and Qualifications We’re Looking For:

As the ideal candidate, you have a proven track-record in progressively senior production and technical support roles.  You thrive in a highly entrepreneurial and “dynamic” work environment.  You are passionate about solving problems and your greatest reward is doing this in a seemingly effortless way for your customers or end-users.  At home, you have a state-of-the-art computer system that would be the envy of most small corporations.  You read every technology publication you can find, you are a member of numerous technology user-groups and you are quick to take technology courses or seminars when time permits.  Does this sound like you??

More specifically, we’re looking for candidates having strong skills with:

  • Excellent PC/software troubleshooting and remote customer support experience
  • Familiar with Windows XP and Vista
  • Experience supporting mid-to-large enterprise environments –> 500+ desktops
  • Familiar with creating packages for remote deployment
  • Configuration Management (preference Microsoft’s technology)
  • VMWare (ESX3/Infrastructure)
  • Strong remote installation and diagnostics skills
  • Considerable hardware and software installation experience
  • Operating Systems: XP, Vista, 7.x, Win Server 2008, Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Solaris, AIX)
  • Software:
    • MS Office Suite,
    • MS Exchange 2003/07,
    • Active Directory, DNS, RAS, RADIUS, VPN
    • Simply Accounting (using software only)
    • Websphere, BEA, Tomcat administration
    • FTP Server
  • Windows Certifications – MCSE, MCITP and/or equivalent experience
