WEB-ENABLING LEGACY APPLICATIONS

Legacy applications that are accessed on old green screens may provide the data needed, but may be cumbersome to navigate, difficult for new staff to learn, and embarrassing to make available to customers. VisionMAX can make this data available on a Web browser front-end, providing a modern look to the World.

VisionMAX has used IBM’s WebSphere Host Access Transformation System (HATS) software to web-enable the following applications:

  • Nation-wide retailer – call center
  • Camera store chain – point of sale (POS) systems
  • Provincial ministry – register a new business
  • Provincial ministry – court offenses tracking system

The new screens were able to use features that we now take for granted, such as:

  • Pull-down lists
  • Hot links
  • Tables
  • Buttons
  • Valid value lists
  • Tabbed folders
  • Graphs
  • HTML elements such as logos, graphics, and backgrounds

In all cases, what is noteworthy is that VisionMAX did much more than a simple green-screen-to-Web-screen transformation. Although, this enabled the application to appear more presentable and professional, the real business benefits came from:

  • Consolidating information from multiple screens onto one screen
  • Adding new functionality without modifying the integrity of the underlying legacy systems
