SPECIALTY CLOTHING RETAILER -
Charity purchase web site

Background
Our client, a high-end specialty clothing retailer, annually promoted the purchase of a unique “one-of-a-kind” item of clothing from a branded supplier, with a portion of the proceeds going to a designated charity. In the past, customers would either go to the store to purchase the item, or call the store to reserve the item for later pickup. Unfortunately, oftentimes the customer did not come to pick up the item. This caused an inventory management problem.

The Challenge
Management decided instead of allowing customers to reserve an item over the phone, a customer could purchase the item online and pick it up at the store. However, the decision to implement this e-commerce web site was made one week before the promotional launch. The current website did not allow customers to purchase clothes online (except for gift cards). Thus, a new website and purchase process had to be set up ASAP to process orders.

The Solution
VisionMAX immediately went into action and did the following:

  • Reused a previous software framework built for a charity site allowing users to pay and download songs
  • Purchased, procured and installed a new Verisign Digital SSL certificate
  • Generated a new VMWare development instance for building and testing the site
  • Built the entire VisionEngine flow driven bilingual version of the site

The Results
VisionMAX set up the new online ordering site in five business days. The solution incorporated the following:

  • Designed new web page graphics
  • Set up the web site and database
  • Set up an account on the Amazon Cloud for hosting the application
  • Integrated the application with Moneris for payment processing
  • Created online inquiries, reports, and sales dashboard.

Company executives were extremely pleased with the quick turnaround and the new system.
