City of Toronto: Toronto Island Ferry Ticketing

City of Toronto

Visionmax designed and implemented the City of Toronto's Toronto Island Ferry ticketing platform, bringing public web and mobile purchasing together with on-site point-of-sale, centralized ticket rules, payment processing, ticket validation and administrative controls. The project also included accessible self-service kiosk prototyping and usability research with people with disabilities; the production rollout focused on web, mobile and POS. The architecture was designed as a durable foundation that could support ongoing operational and business changes while preserving the original solution design and core transaction model.

ONTARIO GOVERNMENT: Annual College Registration and Licensing

Provincial Government

Our client was drowning in paper when the province's more than 500 private career colleges (PCCs) re-registered each year. Client staff had to key in mountains of data from returned paper registrations and trace un-filed returns. A new self-serve system that would allow the PCC staff themselves to enter the data online was needed to eliminate the manual, time-consuming work.

TORONTO AIRPORT (YYZ): POS, Cash Kiosk, Automated Dispatch for Limos

GTAA

The old process used to handle the dispatch of limo/taxis for 1,000 pre-arranged pickups/day was manually-intensive. Passengers were unhappy because of long waits for their driver. Drivers were unhappy as they spent excess time in queue, and there were poor controls in place to prevent unauthorized drivers from “scooping” a fare. Attendants were unhappy as they had to handle large amounts of cash (from the drivers’ admin fee) and were busy filling in paper forms.
